ZitatI got in touch with Michelin Tyres again recently and gave them a bollocking for not including the Versys in their tyre sizing guide, here's their reply :
Dear Sir,
Thank you for your recent e-mail.
Unfortunatley it looks as though our web site needs an update as we do have the following fitment recommendations for your bike :
120/70 ZR 17 (58 W) TL Pilot Road 2 2.30 bar (34 psi)
160/60 ZR 17 (69 W) TL Pilot Road 2 2.50 bar (37 psi)120/70 ZR 17 (58 W) TL Pilot Road 2.30 bar (34 psi)
160/60 ZR 17 (69 W) TL Pilot Road 2.50 bar (37 psi)120/70 ZR 17 (58 W) TL Pilot Power 2.30 bar (34 psi)
160/60 ZR 17 (69 W) TL Pilot Power 2.50 bar (37 psi)120/70 ZR 17 (58 W) TL Pilot Sport 2.30 bar (34 psi)
180/55 ZR 17 (73 W) TL Pilot Sport 2.30 bar (34 psi)Once again thank you for your interest in Michelin.
Yours sincerely
Michelin Tyre Public Limited CompanyI have the Pilot Road 2's fitted and I'm just looking to replace the rear one after 8,000 miles, the front still has about 2.5mm left so it can wait a while yet, these use the same dual compound construction as the 2CT sports tyres that you hear the sportsbike riders enthuse about, sticky edges for cornering and a harder middle for longer life, they have very good grip wet or dry, but the compounds are a little harder to give that longer tyre life.
Don't know why they mentioned the Pilot Road as they're just an older single compound version of the Road 2, the Power and Power 2CT (aimed more at sportsbikes) as the names suggest are a bit more sporty and stick like the proverbial especially on a track, the compromise though is that you only seem to get around half the tyre life, so the Road 2 is their first recommendation for an all round and economical choice.
Note the slightly higher than standard pressures, from my experience they handle white lines and grip better at the higher pressures.
Note also the wider rear tyre option for the Pilot Sport, this is aimed more at everyday "sports" riding rather than trackday use :007: no idea what life you get out of them.

also,
als vorteil haben die amis gesagt optik...
dann reifenwahl.
